Lyrics "All I want is nothing more To hear you knocking at my door Cause if I could see your face once more I could die a happy man I'm sure When you said your last goodbye I died a little bit inside I lay in tears in bed all night Alone without you by my side But if you loved me Why'd you leave me Take my body Take my body All I want is And all I need is To find somebody I'll find somebody Like you (oh) (Like you) See you brought out the best of me A part of me I've never seen You took my soul and wiped it clean Our love was made for movie screens But if you loved me Why'd you leave me Take my body Take my body All I want is And all I need is To find somebody I'll find somebody [Interlude] But if you love me Why'd you leave me Take my body Take my body All I want is And all I need is To find somebody I'll find somebody Like you (oh)" | Anyalisis This man is experiencing sadness just like Hazel Grace. The writer has just gone through a breakup and feels alone. His wish that would make him happy is to see his girl again. The only thing he wants in the world is to be with her again. These lyrics represent a situation similar to Hazel Grace’s situation. She is not going through a breakup however. She just lost her boyfriend Augustus Waters. She loved him with all her heart and wants desperately to see him again. After Hazel loses Augustus, a part of her dies inside. She isn’t whole without him. Every night, they would always exchange the word “Okay” to each other as a symbol of their love. Hazel remembers their last words they shared and although they may not exchange any words to each other anymore, their love for one another will never die. Their love is like the wind, you may not be able to see it but you can always feel it. Hazel knows she can die at any point. She even tells Augustus before they start a relationship that she is a grenade and she can go off at any point. Meaning her death is right around the corner waiting to be found. Little did Hazel know, but she was the one who fell in love with the grenade. She knows that Augustus was special and saw her for who she really was. He ignored the fact she had to walk around with an oxygen tube and ignored the fact she had a tube in both her nostrils. He wanted to know her full story. Not her cancer story, but the story of Hazel Grace. Hazel knows that he was one of a kind and she will always remember the things he did to change her life. Their love was inseparable. Augustus brought out a side of Hazel that she never thought could be possible for a girl under her circumstances to experience. Augustus showed her places she’d never seen and made Hazel’s dream of meeting her favorite author come true. Without Augustus in her life, she would have never explored her dream or witnessed the beauty of life. All she did before she met Augustus was read, mop around the house and go to a therapy group against her will. Going to that therapy group turned out to be an amazing blessing in disguise. |
