Book ... In the novel, The Fault in our Stars, by John Green there are many differences that the movie leaves out so compared to the movie the book contains more background that the movie simply left out. One of the most important difference is the loss of Kaitlyn and Caroline. Differences: 1) Where Is Kaitlyn? In the novel Hazel has a friend named Kaitlyn that is nonexistent in the movie. Not only is Kaitlyn fashionable and friendly, but Hazel also trusts Kaitlyn enough to keep her up to date on what’s going on in her love life with Augustus Waters. 2) Any sign of Caroline? Augustus had actually had a girlfriend before Hazel. His girlfriend, Caroline Mathers, died of brain cancer not too long before Augustus met Hazel. Caroline remains apparent in the thoughts of Hazel throughout the novel however, in the movie Caroline is nonexistent. | Movie... In the movie,The Fault in out Stars, Josh Boone provides admirable actors that do an excellent job portraying the characters John Green created. In addition to the superb characters Boone provides imagery and emotion exactly similar to those in the novel. Although Boone does leave out a few scenes and characters, his movie is still an tremendous film that many can enjoy. Similarities: 1)We Still Have Isaac. Although the movie failed to incorporate Kaitlyn or Caroline, the character of Isaac, Augustus’s best friend, is involved in both the film and the novel. Isaac serves as both a close friend to Augustus and a friend Hazel can talk to after the death of Augustus. 2) Boone got the point across. Yes there may be slight differences left out of the movie but both the movie and the novel portray an accurate idea of the impact John green ideally wanted his reader to be left with. |
